Twelcon, the smart company
We have many questions on Electric Car Charging already figured out and are still thinking of the future. This is our development department talking…
If you have any questions, like to join the conversation or even join Twelcon; show us your curiosity, eagerness to learn and out-of-the-box way of thinking. Because that is us….always ahead of the competition.

A new network for smart cities!
There is a lot of talk on creating “Smart Cities”.
And of course there is nothing wrong in becoming smarter! But the thing is that at the moment this is just a buzz word; everybody means different things and the intended scope is huge!
Well; there is a definition we use that is helpful in understanding the basic concept of becoming a smart city; the gathering of information on city “things” (like traffic lights, water flow, electricity usage and much, much more) and 1. use this information to do things better (like traffic flow, energy consumption and (again) much more. and 2. combine this information into new information; intelligence.
The keywords here will be (while gathering the info) “internet of things: (IoT); sending the info of a traffic light (the thing) over the internet.
Also important is the term AI, Artificial Intelligence. Using all info to create intelligence… and apply that.
And there we are; to become smart we have to communicate with things. Back and forward; just collecting intel will not be enough; also commanding these things to do something is part of the smart city. Artificial intelligently
The main problem for creating smart cities (cleaner cities!) is gathering all the information.
And sending commands back.
Imagine just a city, perhaps your city… Is this city equipped with sensors for air pollution, can it steer electricity capacity somewhere?
No, it can’t or hasn’t.
There is great Smart City Software out there already (more on that later) but the problem is connecting up to the sensors at first. These sensors are either not placed (yet) or can’t connect to a network. Lets indeed hope that 5G will be installed quickly but that doesn’t solve the lack of sensors in the first place.
Twelcon charging points will be all over the city. Any street, any place, anywhere.
Our charging points are not just serving electricity but also can host air pollution sensors, camera’s and much more sensor things are nearby other “things” to connect to. Twelcon charging points are connected with the internet anyhow…
So; we provide also the sensors already in our charging points for a smart city information stream.
In a widely spread condensed network. What more do you want as city…?
(And you don’t have to ask Google for a 1-time sniffing of Amsterdam dear Mayor of Amsterdam…we do it continuously, with the 200.000 charging points you wished)
