Twelcon, the smart company
We have many questions on Electric Car Charging already figured out and are still thinking of the future. This is our development department talking…
If you have any questions, like to join the conversation or even join Twelcon; show us your curiosity, eagerness to learn and out-of-the-box way of thinking. Because that is us….always ahead of the competition.

Electrifying a street.
It is really great if you have your own drive way where you can park your car. Easy to also install a car charger where your EV (Electric Vehicle) can be charged. At night when you are asleep. And not hindering anybody else. Although that is what you think; at this moment your electricity grid can handle you nightly electricity request. It won’t probably if the whole street wants their EV’s charged at once.
Well, that is if you have your own driveway.
But how to deal with that when you live in an apartment building, in a street where you need to use the public parking spaces or don’t even have that?
The solution sounds easy. Just put up chargers anywhere; at any parking space.
But (of course), it isn’t that easy.
At first, the electricity needed for charging in a street (or eg. parking pace of an apartment building) will be bigger than the full electricity usage of that street or apartment building.
Also the chargers used nowadays in public places are stupid, (having a brain of their own but unable too communicate) too big, to un-economic and extremely slow….
Imagine the following needs as well;
In an imaginary street there are people with all kinds of behaviour. Some will have a job , others don’t. Some work during daytime, others work in a night shift. Some have a huge SUV, some have a car only to do local shopping. Some need a car in front of their house due to their disability to move. Some people have a credit card, some are old, some are…
So many people, so many ways of living.
This means that EV charging in that street has to be ready for this.
Twelcon Street EV installations are smart:
To start; the most challenging bit: the electricity capacity. (we have already more thoughts on that for the future, but that is a different blog)
If you want to have EV charging on any parking place; you need to be able to make every charging point smart; This means that we can switch a point on/off and also direct more or less capacity towards a charging point.
In this way we can charge an EV at any moment, at any speed. In the same street……with the existing capacity.
For you that would mean that you give your preferred way of charging through an app on your phone or through a computer. We can also make that available on a screen in the street as well.
So; park your car, connect up to our charging point and we handle you requests: really!!
"I want my car charged within 4 hours and ready (meaning on Wednesday’s 80% because I only have to drive to the office) by 23.00 (you have a night shift). I like the payment to be handled by Company X because they only use Solar Power. ''
And much,much more…..
Of course you can make that schedule a regular one, so just connecting up is enough….
The next issue would be sticking to your parking place; even for days, even if you don’t want to charge your EV (or don’t HAVE an EV)
Well , if every parking space would have a charging point (not the stupid huge ones you see today) that would be the end of that problem. We thought, like you, as well; that will be expensive and UGLY!
Because all intelligence and capacity is in our central housing, you really only need stupid slave kind of charging points, cheap and no more than a connector in a pole. So it less ugly, much less expensive, smarter and expandable at any moment!!.
And much more possibilities; like smart city sensoring, but also parking tax collection in the same go, checking parking licenses and……
More on that in other smart blogs!
